Katie grew up in Boulder, MT with her parents and two sisters. Katie holds a B.A. in Health and Human Services and graduated from Montana State University. She always had a love for the outdoors and adventures and the day she graduated from MSU she moved to Big Sky, MT for “just one winter”. One winter became several. Katie married Spencer Long in 2005 and in 2007 an amazing job opportunity brought them to Jackson and they fell in love with the beautiful scenery and friendly people.
Katie and Spencer welcomed their daughter, Mavis in July 2015 and in April of 2016 they purchased a home in Victor, ID ensuring they would be in the valley for years to come.
Katie’s passion is fly fishing and spending as much time on the river as she can with her husband, daughter, and their dog, Cheese. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Geppert Brothers Fly Fishing Foundation whose mission is teaching the young adults of Cambodia a marketable skill (fly tying) in order to help them fund programs to benefit their children’s education, environment, and economic situation. She is also one of 224 collaborators who participated in the America’s Favorite Flies Book Project whose mission is to make fisheries and waters healthier through the work of the Native Fish Society and the James River Association.
